| I got into law enforcement
back when I was in middle school as a cadet with the Clare County
Sheriff Department. There was a seed planted at that time that some
day would take off and grow beyond belief. In 1987 I became a member
of the Clare County Sheriff Reserve Unit. I can't explain the
feeling I had once on the Reserve Unit, that was spawning inside of
me. It soon came to a point where I would rather be donating time
with the Clare County Sheriff Department, then working my full time
job at Ashcraft's. I was being driven by feelings deep inside of me,
and could not stay away from the whole environment surrounding the
work I was doing with the Sheriff Department.
It wasn't just the thrill of catching a criminal, it was the huge
satisfaction of being able to help people that the criminal had
affected. The satisfaction alone of being able to help citizens out
in any way possible made it all worth the time that I was donating
to a great Department. The whole idea of being able to reach out
where other people couldn't was all part of that tree growing.
I was told in 1989 that I would be going
to the Police Academy that fall, and becoming a full time Deputy
Sheriff with the Clare County Sheriff Department. Now I could go out
and do what I wanted and that was helping people as best I could.
Everything I was involved in I felt that I was helping someone out,
even if the outcome wasn't the best we could have wished for. You
can never know the feeling of holding a child in your arms after
being involved in an accident, and being able to help that child
find comfort. The feelings that were felt for complete strangers in
their times of need, and being able to help, or assist their needs
made it great to go to work every day.
I have been with the Clare County
Sheriff Department for 20 years. My heart was telling me it was my
time, my time to get into the best position I could to serve the
great people of Clare County, to protect the citizens rights. What a
great position in today’s society to guide the ones under me in
treating people right, and helping them. To help those under me find
that passion that I have for this position.
I want to instill pride back in to the
working people of the Clare County Sheriff Department. I want
employees to know when they are doing a good job, to bring them up
to a high level of pride. I want that pride in the employees to be
seen and felt by the citizens of Clare County, knowing that there
tax dollars are being well spent on good people. |
